Our Author Q&A:
- What began your writing journey and what motivated you to pen this children’s book?
My personal quest and the various moments of learning during my very own journey in life have been the inspiration for this book, which is extremely dear to my heart. I sincerely pray that my book is able to reach out to the very hearts of my readers and inspire them to take that first step forward to do the things that they have never done before, to live the life they only dreamed of doing and enabling them to fulfill their purpose.
2. Is there one black woman from history or present day that has inspired you?
Kimberly Lawson Roby, an NAACP award recipient…I have had the pleasure to sit down and interview her on my previous radio show Spiritual Food for Thought. She is an author as I, and she has encouraged me to continue to write and not give up on my dream. A true inspiration!
You can check out the interview here.
3. In your opinion, how can we teach our children to unify people of all colors and backgrounds ?
Conversation. I believe open dialogue is key. Not only in just speaking but being able to hear each other and understand one another. I am reminded of the song lyrics sung by Dionne Warwick, ‘What the world needs now is love sweet love.’ In that we also need to respect each other in our diversity. I believe teaching our to children first to listen and respect others will help to unite all backgrounds and creeds.
